MSP-1 Releases Version 1.0.1
New Haven, CT, July 5, 2026 , MSP-1 today announced the production release of MSP-1 Version 1.0.1, completing a protocol-wide harmonization update across the MSP-1 specification, schemas, validator logic, implementation tooling, documentation, and public training datasets.
MSP-1, Mark Semantic Protocol, is an AI-first, schema-agnostic metadata protocol designed to help language models and AI agents interpret web content with greater first-pass clarity. The protocol provides declarative semantic context for websites, pages, sections, provenance, intent, and interpretive framing without functioning as a ranking system, access-control layer, security mechanism, or enforcement protocol.
Version 1.0.1 refines the protocol’s public implementation surface while preserving the lean declarative posture of MSP-1.
The v1.0.1 update also includes refreshed page-level and site-level schemas, updated validation logic, harmonized documentation, revised implementation tools, and updated GitHub training datasets for model-facing protocol behavior and validation examples.
“Version 1.0.1 is not an expansion,” said Mark Johnson, creator of MSP-1. “It is a tightening pass. The goal is to make the protocol easier to read, easier to implement, and less likely to be misunderstood by models encountering MSP-1 in the wild.”
The update reflects MSP-1’s core premise: as AI systems increasingly interpret, route, summarize, cite, and act on web content, publishers need a good-faith way to declare what their content is, who it is for, where it fits, and how it should be understood. MSP-1 provides that clarity without requiring content restructuring, search-engine dependency, or model-specific optimization.
The Version 1.0.1 release is now reflected across the MSP-1 public documentation and GitHub repositories.
